Moved to the US ✈️
Before this move I had lived, worked, and paid taxes in four countries. I’m grateful that I could truly call two of them home.
Nigeria, where I was born and raised, and which I still love. Finland, where I met my wife and we had our kids, where I got to help build some impressive companies, where I made amazing friends, and where I became a citizen.
Just as I moved to Finland in search of something different, my family and I have moved to the United States in search of something different. It is the fifth country, and I’m glad I can call it home too. I’ve always admired the fast pace of life here, the breadth of opportunity, the optimism and enthusiasm, the diversity, the geography, and the density of talent.
The United States places a high premium on skilled immigrants, and it showed that by granting me permanent residence from day one. The category is EB-1A, extraordinary ability. It lists ten criteria, and you need at least three. I argued six, and the petition was approved directly. We applied from outside the country, so the visas came through consular processing at the US Embassy in Stockholm. The green cards are for me and my family. The process was smooth.
Special thanks to everyone who supported me through the process. I truly appreciate your support, and I will pay it forward. A big shoutout to the legal team at Jeffries and Corigliano LLP for handling the case professionally.
We’re in Florida now. It is really beautiful, and we’re loving the new beginnings. I’m looking forward to making great memories here.
